Believe it or not, there will be a college football game played tonight.

At 9 p.m. ET, Austin Peay and Central Arkansas are set to open the 2020 fall college football season, in what is being dubbed Week 0 for the sport. It is the first Division I football game of the season, and it features a pair of talented FCS squads.

The first game featuring an FBS program is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, when UAB is scheduled to take on Central Arkansas.

Saturday night’s contest features a pair of programs that appeared in the FCS Playoffs at the end of the 2019 regular season.

Austin Peay finished last season with an 11-4 record and reached the quarterfinal round of the tournament before being eliminated in a 24-10 loss by Montana State. Central Arkansas was 9-4 last fall and made it to the second round of the playoffs before suffering a 24-14 loss to Illinois State.

Last year, Central Arkansas defeated Austin Peay 24-16 in the regular season.

Tonight’s game is the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and the game will air on ESPN.
