Coleman Hawkins and Terrence Shannon Jr. from Illinois men’s basketball have both made ESPN’s most recent 2023 NBA mock draft per Jeremy Werner of 247Sports. Hawkins is projected to go to the Los Angeles Lakers with the 40th pick, while Shannon is taken by Memphis Grizzlies at pick No. 58 per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz.

Hawkins is a 6-foot-10, 215 pound forward that averaged 5.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists last season for the Fighting Illini.

Shannon is a new transfer to the Illinois basketball program from Texas Tech. Shannon averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Red Raiders last season. He is used at the guard position.

The latest player to get drafted from Illinois was Ayo Dosunmu by the Chicago Bulls in 2021.  So far, Dosunmu has had 8.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists coming off the bench for Bulls.

It’ll be interesting to see where these 2 Fighting Illini end up.
