3-star QB for 2020 re-opens recruitment, de-commits from Illinois
Late Thursday night, news broke that 3-star QB C.J. Dixon, a verbal commit to Illinois, re-opened his recruitment:
“We spoke with the Illinois coaches along with CJ and decided it just wasn’t a good fit and he wanted to re-open his recruitment,” said Raven Dixon, C.J.’s mother to Illini Inquirer.
Dixon is ranked as the No. 15 pro-style QB in the Class of 2020. He is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect. He holds scholarship offers from Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia, among others.
The entire 2020 Illini class can be found here. With Dixon de-committing, it now ranks No. 84 nationally and No. 14 in the Big Ten.
He was the only QB that Illinois had as a verbal commitment for 2020. The Early Signing Period this year begins on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
