Four-star safety Antonio Johnson announced via Twitter over the weekend that he has decommitted from Tennessee and is reopening his recruitment. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back has offers from nine B1G programs.
“My recruitment is now 100% open,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

According to 247Sports’ Composite rankings, Johnson is a top 150 player in the 2020 recruiting class and the 12th-best safety of the cycle. An East St. Louis native, Johnson is the No. 4 player out of Illinois.
Total, Johnson has received more than two dozen offers, including major SEC programs like Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M. Several B1G programs have showed interest as well, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.
Johnson initially committed to Tennessee on June 7. Illinois is considered a strong candidate to land the four-star safety, but anything is possible.
