4-star SG with offers from several B1G programs picks Illinois

One of the nation’s top 100 players in the 2021 recruiting class has settled on Illinois.

Friday, Illinois received a verbal commitment from four-star shooting guard Luke Goode, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He made his announcement public with a post on Twitter, picking the Fighting Illini over several other B1G schools.

“I am 100% committed to the University of Illinois,” Goode wrote on Twitter.

Goode received offers from from five B1G programs, picking Illinois over Michigan State, Iowa, Maryland and Northwestern. He also received interest from Butler, IUPUI, Stanford, Xavier and Louisville.

According to 247Sports, Goode ranks as the No. 97 overall talent in the 2021 recruiting class and is the No. 22 shooting guard. The 6-foot-5 wing is also ranked as the seventh-best prospect from the state of Indiana.

Goode is the only high school player in the 2021 class to currently be committed to the Illini.
