Aidan Laughery makes it a career day with 64-yard rushing TD to extend Illinois' lead
Aidan Laughery is making it a career day at Wrigley Field.
The Illinois running back made sure to give the Illini a hot start in the 2nd half against Northwestern. It was a 14-10 Illinois lead before Laughery ripped off a 64-yard run for his 2nd touchdown of the day, extending the lead to 21-10 after a successful PAT.
The big run gave Laughery 131 rushing yards on just 7 carries. It’s the first triple-digit outing of his career.

Laughery is Illinois’ leading rusher in the game. Up 28-10 at the 10:08 mark of the 3rd quarter, the Illini have logged 164 rushing yards on 16 attempts. Josh McCray added 27 yards on 6 rushes.
Illinois had a deficit of over 10 minutes in time of possession in the 1st half, but the Illini has made up for it with a combination of efficiency and big plays. Bret Bielema’s team has posted an average of 11.5 yards per play after making it a 28-10 game.
