Another former USC player transferring to Illinois
A second former USC player is leaving Los Angeles and heading to Champaign.
On Sunday afternoon, former USC wide receiver Trevon Sidney announced via social media that he was committing to Illinois, becoming the second former Trojan to join the Illini this week. Earlier in the week, former five-star defensive lineman Oluwole Betiku also announced he was leaving USC for Illinois.
Sidney posted an image in an Illinois uniform, along with a brief message “The marathon continues.” The marathon — in this case — is a slew of recruits and transfers the Illini have added over the last few days.

Sidney is a former four-star wide receiver and was a member of USC’s 2016 recruiting class. He’s played in 15 games over the last two years for the Trojans and has totaled 139 yards on 10 receptions in his career.
As a graduate transfer, Sidney will be immediately eligible to participate for the Illini in 2019 and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Sidney fills a key void for Illinois, which has depth and talent concerns at wide receiver. The former Trojan should compete for a key role instantly and could be an impact player for Lovie Smith and Co. in 2019.
