Illinois is losing another guard to transfer.

Brandin Podziemski has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, joining fellow guard Andre Curbelo. Podziemski spent just one season in Champaign before opting to look for new options.

“I have officially entered the transfer portal! I’d like to thank my teammates, the coaches, the fans and the University of Illinois for this past year,” Podziemski wrote on Twitter.

Podziemski played in 16 games for the Fighting Illini, helping the team to a B1G regular season championship. He averaged 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds per game in his lone season with Illinois.

The 6-foot-5 freshman was a 4-star prospect out of high school and was considered the No. 109 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class. He held several major offers, picking Illinois over Arizona State, Kansas, Kansas State, Marquette, Miami, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, among others.

Podziemski will have three seasons of eligibility to use at his next destination.
