Ayo Dosunmu had to wait to hear his name called during Thursday’s NBA Draft, but he wound up in his hometown when it was all said and done.

In the second round, the Chicago Bulls made the move to grab Dosunmu with the No. 38 overall pick. Prior to starring with the Illini, Dosunmu was the top prospect out of Illinois and a four-star combo guard out of Chicago for the class of 2018.

Friday afternoon, the Bulls shared Ayo’s first message to fans as a member of the organization:

“What’s up Bulls fans, it’s Ayo man,” said Dosunmu. “I’m happy to be home, I’m blessed for this opportunity, I’m ready to get to work. Even though my hat can’t fit, y’all know the vibe.”

While Dosunmu looked like a first-round talent during the 2020-21 season, landing with the Bulls is an awesome way to begin his NBA career.

During the draft, Dosunmu’s watch party had an epic response to the pick that landed him in his hometown. Hopefully he gets off to a great start as a rookie.
