Brad Underwood is liking what he has seen from Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon Jr. so far. He told 247Sports’ Jeremy Werner about one instance at practice that caught his eye.
Shannon averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game last season for the Red Raiders before transferring to Illinois in March.
Shannon is already impressing Underwood with his leadership, and stopped practice because someone wasn’t running hard enough. Underwood compared that to something that former Illinois stars Ayo Dosunmu or Trent Frazier would do.
“That was a Trent Frazier, Ayo Dosunmu type move,” said Underwood.

Underwood gave details about how the team has been using Shannon positionally. The Illinois HC stated that the team has also been using him as a PG in some lineups.

While the Fighting Illini have lost some players to the transfer portal, they have also gained some because of it as well. Dain Dainja and Matthew Mayer transferred to Illinois after spending last season with Baylor, according to 247Sports.
