Brad Underwood is feeling good about his team following an offseason scrimmage and exhibition.
Illinois played Kansas in a scrimmage on Oct. 22 and Quincy in an exhibition game on Oct. 28. The Fighting Illini beat Quincy 87-52.
Underwood stated that both games were great learning tools for the Fighting Illini at Friday’s presser. He was also glad that the team got to experience what things are like on an actual game day.
#illini Brad Underwood: Scrimmage and exhibition were great learning tools for us. It’s exciting to go through the experiences we went through putting guys out there in front of 15,000 and finding pre-game routine.

While both the games were great for Illinois to get a feel for the team it’s going to have, there are still some things that need to got ironed out.
Underwood said that there is still some role identification that needs to happen. Underwood did not say what players he was talking about when he mentioned this, but there might be some players under the microscope heading into the season opener.
#illini Brad Underwood: There’s still a lot of role identification out there to come. We’ll see how all that plays out.
