Bret Bielema recently announced that Artur Sitkowski will not return to Illinois as a quarterback in 2023.
According to Jeremy Werner of 247Sports, Bielema stated at the annual team banquet that Sitkowski “will not return as a quarterback.” Werner also noted that it sounded like Sitkowski will have some role within the program.
#illini Bret Bielema said QB Artur Sitkowski will not return as a quarterback. But sounds like he will have a role within the program.
Sitkowski is definitely future coaching material.

Sitkowski played in 8 games over 2 seasons for the Fighting Illini. Sitkowski spent 2018-20 at Rutgers, starting 18 games over 3 seasons.
In 2022, Sitkowski saw action in 3 games and went 18-of-25 for 103 yards and 1 INT. Currently, Tommy DeVito and Artur Sitkowski are the only QBs on the Illini depth chart, so it is a question as to who will be under center in 2023.
Expect to see Bielema look at the transfer portal again, just 1 year after landing DeVito from Syracuse.
