Illinois has made its decision.

The Fighting Illini will go with Syracuse transfer Tommy DeVito for its matchup against Wyoming. DeVito had been competing with Artur Sitkowski for the starting job.

DeVito spent four years with the Orange, passing for more than 3,800 yards and 28 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

Head coach Brett Bielema praised both quarterbacks while making the announcement via the Illini Inquirer.

“As we got into the week, there were certain things I had to do for TV and it started to leak out there,” said Bielema. “Tommy’s had an incredible fall camp. I would say Art’s playing as good of football as we’ve seen around him here.

“To have the entire spring with Tommy, to have the fall with Art. I know where we’ve been in the past, really excited to see those guys go to work.”

DeVito will look to help Illinois improve on its 5-7 record from a season ago. Game time against the Cowboys is set for 4 pm ET on Saturday.
