There’s a QB battle happening at Illinois. It looks like Bret Bielema isn’t going to give out any details about how it’s going according to Andy Olson of WCIA3 in Champaign, Illinois.

Most people believe Illinois’ quarterback in 2022 will either be Tommy DeVito or Artur Sitkowski. DeVito has a lot of mystery surrounding him because he hasn’t played a game for Illinois as he’s transferring in from Syracuse. However, he does have a lot of experience under his belt with the Orange, starting 18 games for them.

Sitkowski is one of the returning options for Bielema at QB. He played in 5 games for the Fighting Illini, before he had a season-ending injury against Penn State in Week 9. Up until his injury, he had 706 yards passing with 6 touchdowns.

Despite all of this, Bielema still didn’t budge when asked about it at B1G Media Days.

“Who’s my starting quarterback?” said Bielema. “Whoever you want it to be right now. Similar to last year, you guys all probably thought that it was gonna be Brandon Peters, but it really wasn’t decided until game week. I think on game week our room will know and our team will know. Until someone separates themself, I love the competition, I think the players love the competition. I don’t know if I’ll announce to you guys on game week, but I know that our team will know.”
