Illinois will get a little bit of depth added to the backfield this week with the return of Chase Brown.

Brown was previously dinged up in the game against Maryland. It initially appeared he would be back in time for the game against Purdue but a mid-week setback sidelined him.

Fortunately, Brown is back ready to go for the Week 5 game against Charlotte. Bret Bielema indicated Wednesday night that Brown will be a full-go for the weekend.

Brown is currently second on the team this season with 122 yards rushing. However, true freshman Josh McCray appears to have nailed down the No. 1 role.

McCray had 60 yards in the loss to Maryland but broke through with a season-high 156 yards in the loss to Purdue. He leads the team with 265 yards rushing.

Even with McCray serving in the lead role, Brown brings experience and a boost to the backfield. Hopefully, he makes it to the weekend without incident this time around.
