Bret Bielema provided more insight into the status of quarterback Tommy DeVito, cornerback Taz Nicholson, wide receiver Isaiah Williams and linebacker Isaac Darkangelo for Week 7.

On Friday afternoon, Bielema addressed the injured starters and expectations surrounding playing time for them:

Isaiah (Williams) has been really good. He’s actually got practice in. We’re going to be able to see him, I think for sure. Taz has continued to track in the right direction. Tommy, don’t know. That’s going to have to be something, we don’t want to make sure we make a decision on the front end here that can affect something long term.

The Fighting Illini will be facing off against Minnesota on Saturday in a significant B1G West matchup with the depth chart still not yet decided.

DeVito and Williams were two of the biggest losses, along with Nicholson who left last week’s Iowa game with a concussion.

Although Bielema has not explicitly stated for sure if DeVito will be starting on Saturday, there is some reassurance for Nicholson, Williams, and for Darkangelo, who will most likely be starting against Minnesota.

We’ll keep you updated on if DeVito’s playing status ends up changing ahead of Saturday’s game.
