Bret Bielema and Illinois are locked in a B1G West battle against Iowa in Week 6. Unfortunately for the Illini, starting quarterback Tommy DeVito left action in the first quarter with an injury.

According to replays, it looked like DeVito’s left ankle was rolled up on by a defender during one play. DeVito needed help to the medical tent and stayed inside for a while.

With the teams heading to the locker rooms for halftime at a 6-all tie, Bielema stopped to address the injury. According to Bielema, he doesn’t believe DeVito will return for the rest of the action. Bielema also confirmed it is indeed an ankle injury the QB is battling with.

If DeVito cannot go, Artur Sitkowski will be the QB for the second half, along with some potential for Wildcat wrinkles with former QB Isaiah Williams. In the first half, Sitkowski was 6-for-8 but passed for just 10 yards.
