Bret Bielema is still hoping to get Solo Turner on the field in 2022. Unfortunately, Illinois is still waiting to hear about Turner’s potential eligibility.
According to Jeremy Werner with Illini Inquirer, Bielema indicated the program is still trying to make an appeal. In the meantime, Bielema doesn’t feel great about the situation “as long as it’s going on.”

Turner started his carer as a linebacker at Baylor in 2020 but transitioned to defensive back while at Hawaii in 2021. He finished last season with 25 total tackles, 2 TFL, a sack, 2 forced fumbles and an interception.
It will be interesting to see how Turner fits into the defense when things get squared away. Hopefully, he is able to make an appearance in 2022.
