Fighting Illini running back Chase Brown had one of the best running backs in program history take notice to his performance on Saturday against Penn State.

Rashard Mendenhall quote tweeted the Illinois tweet that showcased Brown now has the most rushing yards by an opponent in Beaver Stadium history.

Brown finished with 223 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries as Illinois shocked the world by beating Penn State in State College.

It was his 2nd 200+ yard game on the ground after he had 257 yards against Charlotte on Oct. 2. Brown joined an exclusive list of Illini to have multiple 200-yard games in the same season. Mendenhall is one of the others on that list.

Brown already has 637 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns through 8 games this season, which are both career highs.

Getting praise from Mendenhall is pretty big considering he’s 10th all-time in program history in rushing yards (2,539). He also has the 2nd most rushing yards in a single season in program history with 1,681.

Illinois will take on Rutgers next Saturday at Noon ET.
