Chase Brown and Illinois are starting to cook in the Week 9 game against Nebraska. After falling behind the Huskers 9-6 in the second quarter, Illinois answered back with 14 unanswered points.

Brown’s first touchdown of the game came on back-to-back rushes from Nebraska’s 11-yard line after an interception by Casey Thompson. That gave Illinois a lead with just over 6 minutes left in the first half.

Then, the Illini went on a sustained drive late in the second quarter. That drive eventually ended with Tommy DeVito hitting a wide-open Brown for a 12-yard receiving touchdown before the break.

That score gives No. 17 Illinois a 20-9 lead over the Huskers at halftime:

Brown is already up to 80 yards on the ground and 92 total yards of offense with a pair of touchdowns.

So far this season, Illinois is 5-0 when leading at halftime. We’ll see if that trend continues in Lincoln.
