Chase Brown has been the top running back at Illinois since his breakout 2021 season. His play against Virginia added him to a great list.

Brown had 146 yards rushing against the Cavaliers. This means that he is now one of four running backs in Illinois history to hit 100 yards or more on the ground in four straight games.

Other Illinois running backs to have done it are Mikel LeShoure (2009-2010), Robert Holcombe (1997), and J.C. Caroline (1953).

The Illinois backfield could be getting some more help with the potential return of Josh McCray on the horizon. Bret Bielema believes that McCray could be back for the game against Wisconsin on Oct. 1.

Brown is on pace to have 1,000+ yards rushing for the Fighting Illini once again. He has 496 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing through three games so far.

For now, Brown will be focusing on UTC up next. Illinois kicks off against U.T. Chattanooga on Sept. 22 at 8:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
