Chase Brown entered Week 11 as the nation’s leading rusher and a true Heisman candidate for Illinois. Unfortunately, his status moving forward might be in jeopardy after an injury during the loss to Purdue.
With under a minute to go and trailing the Boilermakers by 10, Tommy DeVito hit Brown with a short pass. As Brown was working to get upfield, he was pushed out of bounds and appeared to land awkwardly on his right leg.
According to the ESPN broadcast, his twin brother — Sydney — was nearby and in tears as Chase was being tended to. As he was helped to his feet, Chase was seen not putting any weight on his right leg while leaving the field.

Brown entered the weekend as the country’s leading rusher with 1,344 yards. He finished the game with 98 yards, snapping his streak of 100 yards rushing with the Illini getting upset at home in back-to-back weeks.
The bigger story for now is his potential status moving forward.
