Detroit Lions and former Illinois S agree to rookie deal
Former Illinois safety Kerby Joseph has signed his rookie contract with the Detroit Lions per his agent Louis Bing. He played in Champaign from 2018 to 2021.
Joseph and the Lions agreed to a 4-year rookie deal worth $5,044,904. He will also have a $849,020 signing bonus, and since he was a compensatory pick 100% of his maximum compensation is allowable. Joseph appeared in 39 games for the Fighting Illini. He had 115 total tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 5 interceptions.

The 3rd-round pick wasn’t the only Illinois player to get drafted in this year’s draft. Left tackle Vederian Lowe was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in the 6th round, and C Doug Kramer Jr. was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 7th round.
