Devon Witherspoon unlikely to report for start of training camp, per report

Devon Witherspoon was a high draft pick for the Seattle Seahawks, coming off the board with the 5th overall pick in this year’s draft.
Unfortunately, the start of Witherspoon’s training camp is expected to be delayed a bit according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. According to Schefter, Witherspoon and the Seahawks have been unable to agree to terms on a rookie contract.
Without a contract in place, Schefter says Witherspoon is not expected to be on the field to begin training camp. The Illinois product is also the final player from the 2023 NFL Draft left unsigned.
Seattle Seahawks’ CB Devon Witherspoon, the No. 5 overall pick in April’s draft, is not expected on the field for the start of training camp as both sides have been unable to reach a contract agreement.
Witherspoon is the final player among this year’s 259 draft picks to sign.

Witherspoon played significant snaps for Illinois every season from 2019-22. However, he really exploded his final 2 seasons while playing in Ryan Walters’ defense.
In 2021, Witherspoon set a career-high with 52 total tackles and 8 TFL while also adding 9 pass breakups. During the 2022 season, He registered 41 tackles, 2.5 TFL with 3 interceptions and 14 pass breakups.
