Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn is going to Illinois. He made his decision on Friday per Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.

247Sports predicted that Gibbs-Lawhorn would be going to Purdue, but he ended up choosing Brad Underwood’s Fighting Illini instead.

Gibbs-Lawhorn is a 4-star CG from the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 14 CG and the No. 8 player from his home state of Florida. The Illinois commit attends Montverde Academy and comes in at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds.

Other than Illinois and Purdue, Gibbs-Lawhorn also had offers from Indiana and Memphis. It looks like the visit on Sept. 22 really helped him make his decision to commit to Underwood.

Illinois currently has the fifth-best 2023 recruiting class in the B1G, according to 247Sports. 4-star PF Amani Hansberry is the only other commit from the 2023 class that is committed to the Fighting Illini.

The Fighting Illini finished the 2021 season with a 23-10 record. Underwood’s team made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Houston 68-53.
