ESPN’s FPI has found the team that it is leaning towards for Illinois’ Week 2 game. The Fighting Illini are taking on Virginia.

Illinois is 1-1 following a 23-20 loss to Indiana in Week 1. Former Missouri QB Connor Bazelak led the Hoosiers on a game-winning drive, where Auburn transfer RB Shaun Shivers scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.

Virginia beat Illinois last season, 42-14 in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers have a new head coach this time around. Former Clemson assistant Tony Elliott is now at Virginia, and has a whole new staff and scheme for Illinois to deal with.

The Football Power Index is leaning towards Illinois, and gives the Fighting Illini and 66.4% chance to win. Illinois and Virginia have met on the football field 3 times, and Illinois leads the all-time series 2-1.

Syracuse transfer Tommy DeVito will be leading the offense again and has 426 yards passing with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception in his 2 starts. He has looked like he has what it takes to play in the B1G so far. Another test is heading his way with Virginia coming to town.

Virginia is coming off of a 34-17 win over Richmond in Elliott’s debut. Game 2 could be another challenge for the 1st-year Virginia head coach.

Illinois and Virginia kicks off Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
