Ex-Illinois OL Gabe Megginson confirms next landing spot
Earlier this week, Illinois offensive lineman Gabe Megginson announced his decision to transfer from the program, still with two years of eligibility remaining. On Sunday night, he was reported to have confirmed his next landing spot.
Randy Reinhardt of the Pantagraph tweeted that Megginson is headed to the FCS level and will suit up for Illinois State beginning next fall. Because Megginson won’t be playing at another FBS program, he will be eligible immediately.

Megginson is a former four-star recruit and had several major offers but chose to stay in-state and play for the Illini. As a freshman, he started in seven games but his playing time diminished this fall and opted to find a better fit.
Illinois State appears to be a solid landing spot for Megginson and he should be able to have an immediate impact with the Redbirds.
Illinois State finished the 2017 season at 6-5.
