Just a few weeks ago, Illinois received a huge boost with its 2022 recruiting class, landing a commitment from 5-star guard Skyy Clark. This week, Brad Underwood and his staff received more good news.

Skyy’s younger brother, ZZ, is also heading to Champaign to play college basketball. The 6-foot-1 guard and member of the 2024 recruiting class made his announcement on Monday.

ZZ picks Illinois over offers from Arizona State, Creighton, DePaul, Kansas, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt and Washington. He does not currently have any rankings from 247Sports.

ZZ becomes the second prospect in the 2024 recruiting class to commit to Illinois. He joins 4-star power forward Morez Johnson, a Chicago native.

Skyy held two dozen offers and committed to Illinois on April 7. He gave the Fighting Illini a huge boost in the recruiting rankings, as they now sit No. 3 in the B1G and No. 8 nationally, per 247Sports.

Illinois has enjoyed plenty of success over the past two seasons under Underwood. In 2020-21, the Fighting Illini won the B1G Tournament and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This year, Illinois won a share of the B1G regular season crown.

The Fighting Illini are looking to make a longer run in March Madness, though. Adding pieces like Skyy and ZZ Clark to the roster should go a long way in helping that.
