Former 4-star prospect, ex-Baylor F commits to Illinois via transfer
Illinois just picked up a nice win for 2022, adding a commitment from a talented prospect via the transfer portal.
The player is Dain Dainja, a former 4-star prospect via the 2020 recruiting class. Dainja was rated the 91st overall prospect in the nation by the industry-generated composite rankings, as well as being rated the No. 3 player out of Minnesota for the cycle.
The 6-foot-9 forward started his career at Baylor but recently entered the transfer portal. On Saturday, he made his commitment to the Illini official.

Dainja did not appear in action as a freshman during Baylor’s 2020-21 national championship run. He appeared in 3 games as a reserve but logged a total of 9 minutes in those games to start this season.
Adding Dainja via transfer is a big boost for the Illini in 2022, particularly if Kofi Cockburn is indeed off to the NBA after his junior season. Illinois will also be adding the No. 18 recruiting class in the nation with 3 prospects among the top 106 in the nation for 2022.
