When you think of great NFL kickers, you think of Indianapolis Colts’ great Adam Vinatieri and one kicker that is trying to follow in his footsteps is former Illinois kicker Chase McLaughlin.

McLaughlin was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after drilling four field goals in the Colts’ 12-9 victory over the Denver Broncos, including the game-winner.

McLaughlin was undrafted back in 2019, although he was a first-team All-B1G selection in 2018.  McLaughlin has been around the NFL since joining the league in 2019.

This is the 10th team he has been with including his second stint with the Colts. Despite the public not being thrilled with the Colts and Broncos’ offenses, McLaughlin is a hero for saving his team from a humiliating defeat. His performance also may have cemented his position as the Colts’ placekicker for good and he doesn’t have to be an NFL journeyman anymore.

The Colts would be foolish if they didn’t make McLaughlin a permanent fixture on this team.
