Former Illinois defensive back Kerby Joseph has quickly turned into a key secondary piece for the Detroit Lions. A ball-hawking defender, Joseph secured another interception in Sunday’s Christmas Eve game against the Minnesota Vikings.

The play was a great example of Joseph’s closing ability to get to the ball. He was even particularly amped up for his latest interception as evidenced by his celebration.

Joseph secured the pick and did not even wait until the play was over to celebrate the takeaway. Some fans referenced the move resembled Russell Crowe’s “Are you not entertained?” scene from “The Gladiator.”

Check it out:

Whatever the motive behind the gesture, Joseph is thriving in his second season in the NFL. He already has 7 career interceptions with Sunday’s pick to go with 16 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

We’ll see what’s next for Joseph, but the Lions have their sights on the playoffs as leaders of the NFC North.
