It’s been a good day for Illinois quarterback Isaiah Williams.
First, he made his first career start for Illinois and led his team to a 23-20 victory over Rutgers.
In doing so, Williams rushed the ball 31 times for 195 yards — breaking the school rushing record for a quarterback. That earned him a shoutout from former Illini dual threat QB Juice Williams.

Not bad for your first time out!
Illinois has battled issues with COVID-19 for the last few weeks, but found a way to get it done on Saturday vs. Rutgers. Williams made a key pass on the game’s final play from scrimmage to get the Illini in range for a 47-yard field goal attempt.
Kicker James McCourt sent it through the uprights and gave Illinois its first win of the season.
Illinois will face Nebraska next week as both teams look for their second consecutive wins.
