A former Illinois wide receiver has re-entered the NCAA transfer portal after briefly committing to Wake Forest.

247Sports reported on Monday that Casey Washington has hit the transfer portal. He was originally a member of Illinois’ 2019 recruiting class and spent two years with Fighting Illini. Washington put his name in the database following the 2020 campaign and landed at Wake Forest.

Washington played in 10 games at Illinois during his first, totaling 11 catches for 132 yards. That total ranked sixth for the Illini on the season. That year, Illinois finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and earned its only bowl trip of the Lovie Smith era.

During the 2020 campaign, Washington played in all 8 games for the Illini and ended the season with 10 receptions for 106 yards. He did not catch a touchdown pass in his two years with the program.

As a recruit, Washington was a 3-star wide receiver from Texas. He was ranked as one of the Top 200 players at his position and received seven offers on the recruiting front. He picked Illinois over Kansas, South Alabama, Tulane and UTSA.
