The Illinois basketball staff has undergone some major changes recently.

First, the Illini lost Chin Coleman and Orlando Antigua to Kentucky. Then, Stephen Gentry took a job at Gonzaga, also leaving Champaign. That prompted Brad Underwood to find some new pieces to his staff.

After hiring former Illinois basketball player Chester Frazier, Underwood promoted Geoff Alexander to an assistant coach. Alexander has been with the Fighting Illini since 2017, serving as the assistant to the head coach.

Needless to say, Alexander is excited about the opportunity to join Underwood’s staff and become a hands-on member at Illinois. Earlier this week, he had the opportunity to speak wit the media about his promotion. Here’s what Alexander had to say:
