Here's what Bret Bielema said after Illinois' win over Charlotte
Illinois fans were squirming when their team trailed Charlotte at halftime on Saturday afternoon.
They felt much better when the Illini — led by sophomore running back Chase Brown — rode a big second half to a 24-14 win over the 49ers at Memorial Stadium. Crisis was averted.
Brown had a huge day on the ground for Illinois, rushing for 257 yards — the 4th-most in a game in Illinois history — and 2 touchdowns on 26 carries. He accounted for 62% of Illinois’ total offense, which totaled 414 yards.
Brandon Peters had a rough day, throwing for 78 yards on 10-of-19 passing and his first touchdown of the year. But it was Brown who stole the show and led Illinois to victory.
