Here's what Reggie Corbin needs to do to finish his career as a Top 5 rusher in Illinois history
Heading into his final season at Illinois, Reggie Corbin ranks 23rd on the program’s all-time rushing leaderboard. That’s a pretty nice accomplishment, but it’s not going to grab many headlines.
What would get people talking about Corbin, though, is if his career ends with him ranked as one of the five-most productive ball carriers in the program’s history. And the senior back has a real shot to finish in that group.
Entering the 2019 season, Corbin has racked up 1,686 yards on the ground, putting him in that 23rd spot. But he could make a huge leap this season and wind up inside Illinois’ top five all-time. How?

Corbin would need to rush for 1,026 yards this fall to surpass Rocky Harvey — a pretty impressive former Illini back — and squeak into the top five. Last season, Corbin finished with 1,085 yards.
Realistically, Corbin could climb as high as No. 2 all-time in Illinois’ history. He would need an even 1,300 yards to bump Antoineo Harris out of the second-place spot. Harris finished his career with 2,985 yards.

Robert Holcombe, Illinois’ all-time leading rusher, is essentially uncatchable with 4,105 career yards.
Nonetheless, second all-time would be a pretty impressive mark for Corbin, considering all he’s been through in Champaign. Even if he doesn’t quite get to that mark, the top five is very attainable.
Corbin will be back on the field Saturday as the Illini host Akron.
