Hours after landing his first commitment in the 2021 class, Enterprise, Alabama three-star running back Joshua McCray, first-year Illinois Fighting Illini head coach Bret Bielema continued to add to his roster on Tuesday, adding North Carolina State Wolfpack transfer linebacker Calvin “C.J.” Hart, Jr.

A 247Sports Composite three-star prospect out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the 2018 cycle, Hart redshirted by appearing in just four games in his first season in Raleigh.
Recording statistics in 17 contests over the last two seasons, he tallied 53 tackles (8.5 for loss), three sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, including 18 tackles (three for loss) and two sacks in 10 games in 2020.
Redshirt seniors Milo Eifler and Jake Hansen, two of the Illini’s top linebackers in Lovie Smith’s final season, both have announced their plans to enter the 2021 National Football League Draft, creating the need for additional depth at the position.
