The last several months have been an arduous journey for Illinois defensive lineman Bobby Roundtree. But as the days go by, progress continues to be made.

Over the summer, Roundtree suffered a serious spinal injury during a swimming incident in Florida. That accident left him in a hospital for many weeks, but the Illinois football player is showing some promising progress.

Saturday, Roundtree posted a video of himself getting in a rehab workout with the ropes. He posted the video along with the words “In the Lab,” followed by a check mark and blue and orange diamonds.

Head coach Lovie Smith said several times during the summer months that “Bobby has a long road ahead.” And while Roundtree will continue to go through rehab, it’s awesome to see him staying positive about his progress.

All season long, the Illini dedicated the 2019 year to Roundtree. Thanks to four-straight wins in the middle of the season, Illinois is headed to its first postseason game since 2014 and will play in the Redbox Bowl against Cal on Dec. 30.

Roundtree made an appearance in the locker room to meet with the team before the season finale against Northwestern. The team also used FaceTime to talk with the defensive lineman several times in the postgame locker room.
