Head coach Brad Underwood and the Illini are putting in some work on the recruiting trail, picking up a second commitment since the start of July.

This time, Illinois grabbed a commitment from four-star combo guard Jayden Epps out of Suffolk, Virginia. The 247 Sports Composite Rankings has Epps as the No. 2 player out of Virginia and the No. 11 combo guard in the nation. Epps is also rated the 63rd overall prospect in the nation for the class of 2022.

Epps selected the Illini over offers from Kansas, UConn, and NC State, among others.

Epps is listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 lbs. and should be a great addition for Underwood and his staff.

Epps’ commitment comes 10 days after the Illini landed four-star shooting guard Sencire Harris out of Ohio. Harris is the 14th rated shooting guard and the No. 100 overall prospect in the nation, giving Illinois two top-100 prospects for the cycle.
