Illinois adds first commitment to 2022 recruiting class with OL out of Wisconsin
Bret Bielema has picked up the first commitment for the 2022 recruiting class, reaching into a familiar area to snag an offensive lineman.
The commitment came from Joey Okla, an offensive guard out of Hartland, Wisconsin. Bielema obviously is familiar with the territory after previously coaching the Badgers, and Okla was recruited by OL Coach Bart Miller who also coached at Wisconsin.
“Huge thanks to my Family, friends, and coaches for making me the man I am today,” wrote Okla on Twitter as he also thanked Bielema, Miller, and the Illinois coaching staff upon his commitment.
Committed! Huge thanks to my Family, friends, and coaches for making me the man I am today. Also, a big thanks to @BretBielema @Coach_BMiller and the rest of the Illinois staff for believing in me! #Illini #famILLy22 pic.twitter.com/WBU5EGgpNP

Okla will be an intriguing prospect to watch in Champaign. He is currently not rated by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, but he has good size for the next level at 6-foot-3 and 285 lbs.
