Althaus went unranked by the 247 Sports Composite, but he has intriguing size for the position. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 233 lbs., he could pose a matchup problem for defenders.
Illinois will be in good shape at tight end heading into 2021. Starter Daniel Barker is returning, and he finished second on the Illini with 19 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Ford also recorded two catches for 15 yards and will be back in 2021.
Althaus is the only tight end currently a part of the 2021 class for Illinois, according to 247 Sports. It will definitely be interesting to watch his progression in Champaign.
