Illinois is working on the 2024 recruiting class after a disappointing 5-7 finish to the 2023 season. On Monday, Bret Bielema’s staff picked up a major piece with a key offensive line prospect.
The player is Andrew Dennis, a 4-star offensive lineman out of Mt. Pleasant High School in Michigan. Dennis was previously committed to Michigan State but re-opened his recruitment in October during the coaching change in East Lansing.
A number of B1G and prominent national programs were in the mix for Dennis, including Penn State, Purdue and Clemson among others. He took official visits to Penn State, Clemson and Illinois during November, and the time in Champaign paid off.

Dennis is listed at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds and is rated as a 4-star recruit by the 247 Sports Composite. The system also lists Dennis as the No. 23 IOL in the country and the 7th overall player out of Michigan for the 2024 recruiting class.
He immediately becomes the highest-ranked commitment of the cycle for the Illini.
