Illinois has made an addition to its 2019 recruiting class, plucking another prospect out of St. Louis.

Saturday evening, three-star offensive tackle Josh Plohr announced his commitment to Illinois, becoming the 14the member of the class. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle is the fourth St. Louis-area player to commit to Lovie Smith and the Illini.

Plohr made his announcement via Twitter.

“After a great visit, I’m pumped to announce my commitment to the University of Illinois,” Plohr wrote on Saturday evening.

With Plohr’s commitment, Illinois leaped to 59th in the 2019 national recruiting rankings, per 247Sports. It also moved them to 13th in the B1G, jumping Rutgers.

Plohr had 16 total offers, most of those coming from MAC schools, FCS and Ivy League programs. The offensive tackle settled on joining the B1G and playing at Illinois. He adds good size and depth to the Illini’s offensive line.
