Illinois announces 2019 Red Grange Offensive MVP
Illinois did not finish the season the way it was wanting, but the Illini will get one more game in bowl season.
After Illinois secured its sixth win against Michigan State, it looked like the Illini might finish the season on an even higher note. Unfortunately, Lovie Smith and company dropped tough games against Iowa and Northwestern to finish the year.
Despite that finish, there’s no denying it was an incredibly exciting year for the Illini. Trying to determine an MVP on either side of the ball is not easy, but Illinois announced its selection for Offensive MVP Sunday night.
The team went with senior running back Dre Brown who led the team in all-purpose yardage. His 545 rushing yards also finished second on the team behind Reggie Corbin.
Here’s the announcement by Illinois Football:

» Team-best 1,188 all-purpose yards

» No. 4 graded RB in B1G by PFF (min. 100 carries)

Brown will look to lead the Illini to one more season when they hit the field in bowl season.
