Illinois announces 5 players suspended indefinitely for violating team rules
The 2018 football season has finally begun for Illinois.
And, news ahead of the team’s first game Saturday afternoon wasn’t delightful. Bennett Williams, Nate Hobbs, Lou Dorsey, Deon Pate and Carmoni Green are suspended indefinitely due to a violation of team rules.

According to Isaac Trotter of IlliniInquirer.com, Larry Boyd and Verdis Brown are also both redshirting this season.
Williams and Hobbs, who are suspended indefinitely, are listed on the roster as sophomore defensive backs. Dorsey is a sophomore tight end, Pate is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman and Green is a sophomore wide receiver.
Illinois begins its 2018 season with a home game against Kent State Saturday. The game is being televised on BTN.
