Illinois will be entering the second season of the Bret Bielema in 2022. The Fighting Illini ended last season with a 5-7 record, falling one victory shy of a bowl berth.
Although there was no postseason appearance, Illinois did defeat Nebraska in Week 0, upset ranked opponents Penn State and Minnesota on the road and claimed a victory over Northwestern to bring the Land of Lincoln Trophy back to Champaign.
Not a bad first year for Bielema and his staff.
Illinois is scheduled to start the season in Week 0 again this fall, hosting Wyoming on Saturday, Aug. 27.
