Illinois’ 2023 spring game is set.

Fighting Illini fans will get to check out Bret Bielema’s squad in person on April 20, a Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be shown on the Big Ten Network.

Illinois is 13-2 in 2 seasons under Bielema. The Illini are coming off an 8-5 season in 2022, an improvement of 3 wins over the 5-7 mark in 2021.

The 2022 team got off to a 7-1 start. Illinois was ranked by the College Football Playoff selection committee for the first time in program history on Nov. 1, checking in at No. 16. From there on, however, it was a rough finish for the Illini. Illinois dropped 4 of its last 5 games, including the ReliaQuest Bowl to Mississippi State.

Fans will get to see some new faces in the spring game. The Illini have added 12 early enrollees in the 2023 recruiting class. Bielema’s staff also turned to the NCAA transfer portal for 5 additions.
