Illinois announces five team captains for 2019 season
Each season, Illinois has a number of players representing the team as team captains.
This year, of course, is no different.

As voted by the Fighting Illini players themselves, here are the five Illinois captains for the 2019 season:

The five captains are:
- LB Jake Hansen
- LB Dele Harding
- Punter Blake Hayes
- OL Doug Kramer
- OL Alex Palczewski
Hansen is a junior LB who a season ago, recorded 95 tackles. Harding recorded 37 tackles, while Hayes averaged over 43 yards per punt last year.
Kramer started all 12 games for Illinois at center last season as a sophomore and Palczewski made all 12 starts at right tackle as well.
