Ayo Dosunmu has officially declared for the 2021 NBA Draft. He will be hiring an agent and has no intention of returning to Illinois for next season. Jeremy Werner reported on the news on Tuesday.

Dosunmu was expected to declare for the draft at the end of the college basketball season after having another spectacular year. He had the opportunity to declare the past two seasons, but ultimately decided to return to the Fighting Illini.

This season, Dosunmu helped lead Illinois to a B1G Tournament title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while making 28 starts during the year.

Dosunmu was a First-Team All-B1G selection and First-Team All-American after his outstanding season. He was a finalist for the Naismith National College Basketball Player of the Year Award and several other honors.

In his three seasons with the program, Dosunmu averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He played in 90 career games for the Fighting Illini and made an immediate impact from his freshman season.

After three spectacular seasons in Champaign, Dosunmu will be remembered as one of the great Illinois players in history. He’s projected to be a first-round selection in this year’s NBA Draft.
