Illinois basketball announces mid-year addition of point guard from Italy
Illinois basketball will be receiving mid-season reinforcements.
Niccolo Moretti, a point guard out of Italy, has enrolled at Illinois for the 2023 spring semester. Moretti was previously in Canberra, Australia playing at the NBA Global Academy.
“We are excited to add Niccolo to our team and begin working with him as he transitions to the college game,” head coach Brad Underwood said. “Nicco is a pure point guard who excels in ball screens and can score at all three levels. He is what you look for in a point, he has great vision, basketball IQ, and makes his teammates better.”

The Fighting Illini have been hot lately, winners of 3 in a row and currently sitting at 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the B1G. Adding reinforcements at the point guard position would be beneficial for an Illini team that currently gives the majority of minutes to freshmen.
